Job Description: MYP/DP AA Mathematics Teacher

Aoba Japan International School is a leading IB World School located in Tokyo, committed to providing a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds. Our Bunkyo campus serves 150+ students aged 16-18 in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and Global Leadership Diploma, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and global citizenship.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic MYP/DP AAMathematics Teacher to join our Bunkyo campus team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for educators passionate about inspiring learners in mathematics through real-world applications and data analysis within an international setting.

Position: MYP/DP AA Mathematics Teacher

Education Stage: High School

Curriculum: IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme Applications and Interpretation (AA)

Position Type: Full-time Teacher (Short-term contract April to July 2026, with potential to develop into a full-time position)

Campus: Bunkyo, Tokyo

Start Date: Immediate (April 2026)

Reports to: Head of Campus Bunkyo, DP Coordinator, MYP Coordinator

About the Role

You will teach Mathematics across the MYP and DP AA curriculum, focusing on applications, statistics, and mathematical modelling. Students come from diverse international backgrounds. The position includes opportunities for Extended Essay supervision and involvement in co-curricular activities.

Teaching Load:

• 20-24 contact hours per week
• Preparation time and professional development within the school day
• Co-curricular involvement (clubs, house activities, or academic support)
• Occasional weekend commitments for school events

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
• Strong understanding of the IB MYP and DP AA framework or demonstrated willingness to undertake IB training
• Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that foster mathematical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world applications through data analysis and modelling
• Effective communication skills with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Legal right to work in Japan or eligibility for visa sponsorship

Desirable:

• Experience teaching IB programmes
• Proficiency with digital tools relevant to mathematics education
• Extended Essay supervision experience
• Background in statistics, data science, or applied mathematics
